The mission of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is to provide statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans.

Our Mission is to promote healthy behaviors by sparking and sustaining community change. PreventionFIRST!, formerly the Coalition for a Drug-Free Greater Cincinnati, was founded in 1996 by now Senator Rob Portman, Ohio First Lady Emeritus Hope Taft, Rev. Dr. Damon Lynch, and Mr. John Pepper as a comprehensive effort to address youth substance abuse.
